The Getaroom Travel Portal

Intelgain created the architecture and design for an online travel portal called Getaroom.

Getaroom offers a plethora of competitively priced travel services, products and useful travel information. Aspiring to be a one-stop source for all the needs of net-savvy travelers, Getaroom provides access to over 32,000 hotels in 120 countries and 17,000 youth hostels in over 160 countries. The portal also offers sightseeing tours, information on popular global destinations, car rentals, travel guides and package tours.

Visitors to the site can identify destinations and compare hotel pricing, check availability of hotel rooms or make hotel and car bookings. They can also access information on the facilities provided by each hotel or hostel, or use a global hotel / area-wise search option.

It was extremely important to visualize the direction and scalability of this project, keeping in mind that the portal would handle large eyeballs, leading to volume bookings. One of the critical objectives of the site included creating pages optimized for the web (SEO) and embedding HTML based keywords that would achieve maximum search engine penetration to increase visitor ship.

The challenge was to seamlessly bring together content and information from various travel industry providers. The Getaroom portal was developed on the LAMP platform.
